Using blogs in the classroom

Using blogs in the classroom

There are plenty of ways teachers improve their teaching methods one such way is to use integrate blogging into lesson plans. All students need to start blogging away is a blogging platform such as Tumblr, Wordpress or www.blogger.com.
It is wise to use blogging in class where students have access to laptops/ iPads or desktop computers. It would be easier for the higher grades in the Intersen Phase to take part in blogging; it might prove too complex for the younger grades.
Having a class blog is much easier than having the students create their own blog.
Teacher must come up with a task to blog about, maybe ask the Grade 5 students to write a book review on the class blog, they could all review a different book in different genres.
The teacher must then instruct students to read each other’s book reviews and comment. This promotes discussion between the learners.
The teacher can also include a list of “Top Ten” books in the sci-fi genre, learner who has read the most books could have their photo on the blog. The possibilities of using class blogs are endless.
